Virti Alternatives Compared (2026)

Virti Alternatives Compared (2026)

Virti alternatives are a thin search because most comparison pages still treat Virti as “the VR company” and stop. That was the root — immersive healthcare training, virtual humans, 360 video — and it is still a real strength. The product today is broader: AI roleplay on desktop and mobile as well as headset, used in sales, leadership, and service as well as clinical work.

I founded Real Talk Studio. If the place is the skill — a ward, a bay, a 360 scene — stay with Virti. If you only needed talk, start with us, Yoodli, Second Nature, or Hyperbound, depending on the conversation. If you needed clinical VR, look at SimX or Oxford Medical Simulation, not a corporate 1-1 tool. The Virti facts below are from their public pages.

Two jobs people actually have

You want conversation practice without a headset, or you are buying outside healthcare. If you need a theatre or a ward, stay with Virti or a clinical specialist.

What Virti is

Virti is a UK-origin platform for scenario-based training: AI “virtual humans,” interactive and 360 video, optional VR, no-code authoring, analytics on decisions and communication. Wikipedia and their own industry pages still lead on healthcare — wards, theatres, patient conversations — and they also sell sales, leadership, and customer-service training. They claim a wide language set (on the order of 40). Some pages mention a 14-day trial. Paid pricing is not public.

Strengths

  • The place is part of the practice: you are in a bay, a shop floor, a consultation room, not only on a call.
  • Healthcare credibility and clinical-adjacent content you will not find in a sales-roleplay tool.
  • Authoring that mixes video and AI, which is useful when the skill is “where do I stand / what do I notice,” not only “what do I say.”

Limits

  • VR is a procurement and hygiene project (headsets, charging, infection control, a room). Many buyers never get past the pilot closet.
  • If you only needed a difficult 1-1, you are paying for an immersive studio.
  • Evidence is often “how they did in the scenario,” which is useful, and not always “here is an audit pack for a UK tribunal.”
  • You will need a demo to learn the price.

What a talk-only tool looks like

No headset. No ward. A person talks, the other side talks back, you keep the file.

Live Real Talk Studio 1-1 in the browser

A conversation in the browser. No headset, no ward.

Team mode with several avatars in one meeting

A room, not a headset. The silent colleague is the point.

You want conversation practice without VR

This is the most common “Virti alternative” brief we hear, even from people who liked the demo.

Real Talk Studio — browser, voice or video, scored. Built for the words under pressure: feedback, coaching, service, disclosure. EU hosted. No headset programme.

Yoodli — if the gap is how they sound, not what they do in a ward. Yoodli alternatives.

Second Nature / Hyperbound — if the conversation is a sales call. Head-to-head.

A well-run workshop. If you have twelve clinicians and a simulation faculty, you may already have the better “alternative.” Do not buy a platform to avoid timetabling.

You can keep Virti on desktop-only and never buy Quest headsets. Ask that in the demo. Many buyers do not, and then blame “VR” for a content problem.

You are outside healthcare

Virti will still sell to you. The question is whether they are built for your job.

When Virti is still the right buy

  • The environment is the skill (where you stand in a bay; what you see in 360).
  • You have a clinical or safety faculty who will author.
  • You already run VR and the hygiene/logistics are solved.
  • You want one platform for video scenarios and AI talk.

If those are true, do not switch to us for the sake of a browser. We will not give you a theatre.

Clinical VR specialists — SimX, Oxford Medical Simulation, surgical tools like Osso VR — are the alternatives inside healthcare when the job is procedure or autonomous clinical simulation, not corporate soft skills. They are not L&D conversation platforms. Do not put them on a sales-enablement bake-off.

Pilot criteria

  1. Run the same scenario on headset and on a laptop. If the learning only appears in the headset, you have a hardware project.
  2. Time from “we have a protocol” to “a learner is in a scene” with your authors, not their demo team.
  3. Check languages and accents you actually need (their “40+” vs your roster).
  4. Data: where video and voice live; what a hospital DPO or a bank CISO will sign.
  5. If you are comparing to a conversation tool, include one scenario that is only talk. If they lose that and win the ward, you may need both — not a winner.

A note on “immersive” as a word

Vendors will use immersive for three different things: a headset, a 360 video on a laptop, and a conversation that feels like a person. Only the first requires a hardware programme. The second is a content studio. The third is what most L&D people actually wanted when they typed “roleplay.”

Virti can do all three. That is why the category is confusing. Your shortlist should say which of the three you are buying. If you say “immersive” in the business case and then never budget for headsets or video production, you will get a conversational tool with a VR logo and a disappointed clinical lead.

We are unapologetically the third thing. Attensi is often the second with game mechanics. SimX is the first with a faculty. Mixing the RFPs is how you spend a quarter in demos.

We will not replace a ward, 360 video, or a no-code immersive editor. Virti will not, without a lot of custom work, become your Worker Protection Act file or a Consumer Duty queue. Different jobs.

If you are writing a business case, put the hardware line in the first table, not the appendix. Headsets, charging, a room, infection control in a clinical setting, and a person whose job is to keep the kit alive — that is a programme. Desktop roleplay is a browser tab. Mixing them in one “innovation” budget is how VR pilots die in a cupboard and the conversation practice never starts. Be dull on this. Dull saves money.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01What are the best Virti alternatives?

Without VR: Real Talk Studio, Yoodli, Second Nature, Hyperbound — pick by conversation type. Inside clinical VR: SimX or OMS. For volume gamified ops: Attensi.

02Is Virti only for healthcare?

No. That is the root and still a strength. They also sell corporate roleplay. Buyers outside healthcare should still ask whether they need the immersive layer.

03Does Virti require a VR headset?

No. Roleplay and interactive video can run on desktop and mobile. VR is an option, not always a requirement — confirm in the trial.

04Virti vs Real Talk Studio?

Virti if the place is the point. Us if the conversation is the point and you want EU-hosted competence evidence without a headset programme.

05Is there a free Virti trial?

They have advertised a short trial. Paid contracts are custom. Check their current site.
